About the Role
Newham has created an exciting opportunity to join a new team of SEND Case Officers supporting children and young people aged 0 to 25. You will play a key role in delivering SEND provision by managing and contributing to assessments, prioritising person-centred planning with children, young people and their families to ensure their needs and ambitions are fully reflected in their plans. You will work within a multi-agency SEND service that includes travel, educational psychology, tribunals, special educational support services, and speech and language teams. The service collaborates closely with colleagues across Children’s Services, Health, and Social Care to deliver positive outcomes for children with SEND.

Experience
Relevant experience working within education, childcare, local authority settings, or related professions. Proven experience managing full and varied caseloads, including children and young people with complex and additional needs. Knowledge of legislative frameworks including the Education Act (1996), Children and Families Act (2014), and SEND Code of Practice (2015).

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, persuade, and build effective working relationships at all levels. Empathic approach with high emotional intelligence to thrive in a demanding, public-facing role. Ability to work independently, prioritise workload efficiently, and maintain excellent organisational skills. Proficient in IT including Microsoft Office programs, Teams, and case management systems.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or experience in SEND, education, social care, or related fields are desirable but not explicitly stated. A commitment to ongoing professional development and a positive attitude towards learning and improvement are essential.
