About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Senior School Nurse (SCPHN Qualified) to join our dynamic School Health Team. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team addressing the health needs of children, young people, and their families in line with the Healthy Child Programme (5–19 years). This role involves working proactively to reduce the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and health inequalities, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and leading service innovation.

Main duties include delivering holistic health assessments and care plans, developing multi-agency partnerships, mentoring pre-registration and SCPHN postgraduate students, leading service delivery initiatives such as drop-in sessions and allocation meetings, promoting school health services in local communities, participating in safeguarding processes and multi-agency case conferences, supporting training programmes for schools, maintaining accurate electronic records using the RiO system, contributing to audit and governance activities, and engaging with digital platforms like the ChatHealth text messaging service to support accessibility.

Newham is a diverse borough with a young population undergoing significant regeneration. Our vision is to ensure every child has equal life chances. The 0-19 Children's Health Service was rated Good in all areas by CQC in 2021. We offer strong leadership, genuine management support, employee wellbeing programmes, and a commitment to our HEART values (Honesty, Equality, Ambition, Respect, Together).

We provide a flexible starting salary within the grade, subsidised leisure passes, generous local government annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, continued access to the NHS Pension Scheme for eligible health professionals, recognition of previous NHS continuous service, support for advanced clinical training, clear career progression pathways, and access to smart technology to support modern working practices.
