About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the London Borough of Redbridge for an experienced Senior Employment Lawyer to join the Council and provide a comprehensive and professional legal service in employment law. You will report to the Principal Lawyer – Litigation within the Legal Department, advising internal departments and representing the organisation in Employment Tribunals.

You will provide expert advice and guidance on employment law specifically in the context of the public sector and maintained schools. The role requires extensive experience in conducting Employment Tribunal claims and preparing documents relevant to both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Key responsibilities include providing expertise and knowledge of employment law particularly related to the public sector, advising on employment law matters in local government and satellite bodies, managing a complex and varied caseload, and supervising an Employment Lawyer.

This is a politically restricted post.

Experience
- Proven experience in employment law, preferably within a local government context
- Extensive knowledge of employment law practice and legislation
- Experience managing a wide and varied workload of both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters with minimal supervision

About you
- Ability to provide expert advice and practical assistance on employment law issues
- Strong organisational skills to manage complex caseloads
- Experience in supervising and managing junior legal staff

Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or equivalent legal qualification
