About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join Islington Council on a permanent basis. You will be an integral part of the Lighting and Traffic Engineering service, delivering the traffic engineering programme across the borough. Your responsibilities will include design, estimation, project management, and site supervision of a variety of schemes such as public realm, cycleway, liveable neighbourhood, and general traffic schemes.
This role involves line management of junior staff and regular liaison with internal and external stakeholders including Council departments, contractors, utility companies, developers, police, members of the public, and other relevant organisations. You will work closely with the term maintenance contractor to deliver a successful borough-wide programme of high-profile schemes.
Working under the Traffic Manager and Principal Engineers, you will contribute to delivering Islington Council’s Traffic and Engineering programme. We are looking for a competent, technically experienced team player dedicated to delivering the best possible schemes.

Experience
Proven technical experience in traffic engineering, including design, project management, and site supervision of traffic and public realm schemes. Experience in line management and stakeholder engagement is essential.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in engineering or a related discipline are required. Membership of a professional body such as ICE or IHE is desirable.
