About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Governance Officer to provide proactive and comprehensive support across Notting Hill Genesis's boards and committees. You will act as Secretary to two to three committees or subsidiary boards, including resident and customer committees. Your responsibilities will include preparing agendas, minuting meetings, advising on governance practices, and supporting wider governance activities such as maintaining governance records, board recruitment, and managing digital platforms.
Working closely with the Deputy Company Secretary and Company Secretary, you will ensure the effective operation of organisational governance, contributing to continuous improvements that help deliver excellent service to residents and customers. This role involves attending some evening meetings, with time off in lieu provided.
Key duties include managing the end-to-end administration of formal meetings and awaydays, ensuring timely production of papers and materials, recording decisions and actions accurately, and maintaining governance documents such as constitutional records and Declarations of Interests. You will also assist with the recruitment, induction, appraisal, and training of board and committee members, including residents and customers, and oversee the maintenance of digital board platforms and governance content on external websites.

Experience
- Chartered Governance Institute qualified or part-qualified
- Previous experience as a Governance Officer or in a company secretarial role
- Background in UK housing associations, charities, or other regulated sectors
- Strong knowledge of governance procedures and relevant legislation
- Proven track record of improving governance processes and ways of working
- Skilled in handling confidential and sensitive information professionally
- Experience building effective relationships with chairs, board/committee members, residents/customers, and senior management
