Clinical: A range of specialised surgery is undertaken across both sites and the successful applicant will be encouraged to attend these sessions in order to develop a broad interest in all aspects of orthopaedic hip surgery and to further their medical training. You will be expected to actively participate in the departments audit and clinical governance activities with appraisal. The postholder will, together with colleagues, be responsible for the provision of specialist orthopaedic services to the Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust to include: (a) Diagnosis and treatment of patients of the trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required. (b) Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff. The post will be working over both Guys and St Thomas sites and it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the trust, on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service. This post currently involves on call work, including weekend and evening working, either within the basic working hours or via supplementary payment.
