About the Role
Working in the Department for Work and Pensions internal communications team is an exciting, inspiring opportunity that will challenge and develop you as a communications leader. You will work on high profile initiatives, helping to shape communications on issues that directly influence tens of thousands of colleagues, communities, and everyday lives across the country.
As our Senior Internal Communications Manager, you will work with your team to develop internal communications and campaigns that are thoroughly planned and fully aligned to DWP’s wider communications strategy. These campaigns will innovate and break new ground, taking inspiration from best-in-class internal communications.
You will act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic advice and constructive challenge to senior leaders to ensure their communications engage and resonate with internal colleague audiences. You will gather intelligence and insight, analysing the effectiveness of internal engagement to inform current and future strategies. We build two-way communication campaigns that engage our people and demonstrate that we listen to feedback.
Providing exceptional leadership and line management, you will work collaboratively across the wider internal communications function and communications directorate. You will develop internal communications talent and build robust succession plans.

Experience
Proven experience in internal communication and campaign delivery, demonstrating the ability to bring together the right people to design and deliver engaging campaigns. Skilled in crafting clear, compelling messaging from complex source material and influencing outcomes.
Strong strategic stakeholder influence and advice skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across complex organisations to deliver positive communications and outcomes.
Reputational awareness with an understanding of the political and organisational context in which large organisations and their internal communications operate. Demonstrated good judgement in handling sensitive issues.
Experience responding to uncertainty, working through incomplete information with flexibility, confidence, and decisiveness, and thriving during changeable times.
Proven ability to drive an insight-led culture, translating research and data into clear recommendations for continuous improvement.
People leadership and capability building experience, inspiring improvement in colleagues through coaching, development, skills building, and workload prioritisation.

Qualifications
