About the Role
What if you could do the kind of work the world needs? At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.
Your work will support our teams in the delivery of land referencing, land access, landowner and stakeholder engagement, and statutory processes. This includes identification of landowners, occupiers, and other parties holding interests in land through interpretation and research of land registry information. You will liaise with landowners, land agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors, and clients.
Working with multi-disciplinary teams, you will secure access to land for surveys by agreement or statutory mechanisms. You will ideally have experience managing land referencing and land access projects, leading audits and quality assurance reviews of land referencing documentation and processes. You will provide senior-level advice to clients and project boards on land acquisition risks and opportunities, oversee compliance with statutory processes, and ensure projects meet regulatory and legal obligations, including data security and privacy.
You will resolve disputes and escalate sensitive issues with diplomacy and authority, contribute to commercial strategy and risk management for land-related contracts, and establish training programmes and succession planning within the Land team. People management and team leadership are key aspects of this role.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to engage with landowners, communities, and stakeholders. You will consult with landowners to explain proposed schemes, discuss potential impacts, and ensure accurate consultation notes are taken and uploaded to our consultation database. You will ensure WSP Health & Safety procedures are adhered to for all site work.
Management of junior members of the Land team includes providing support and technical training by contributing to and participating in our CPD-accredited Land Academy. You will use statutory powers and other mechanisms to acquire land, prepare and quality assure technical documents related to land interests and rights, negotiate access for surveys, consents, and acquisition of land rights.
Developing efficient working practices and promoting innovation in the team to provide industry-leading, best-value services to clients is expected. You will also contribute to business development and the delivery of the business strategy.
