About the Role
We have a Senior Planning Officer opportunity within our Development Management service at Lambeth Council. This role offers the chance to negotiate the best possible development outcomes in a positive and solutions-led manner, contributing to a high-performing service. The postholder will work collaboratively within the Development Management Team, handling pre-applications, planning applications, and appeals. You will lead negotiations to secure optimal development results and present applications to the Planning Applications Committee, ensuring all reports and documents are of a high standard.

Experience
- Significant experience and knowledge of Development Management, ideally within a busy metropolitan area
- Proven ability to manage a caseload including major and/or complex planning applications
- Experience ensuring applications are reported within target dates and according to agreed procedures
- Experience providing advice to Councillors, senior officers, developers, and the public on planning applications and related matters
- Experience supervising or guiding more junior staff

Qualifications
- RTPI-recognised degree level qualification in Town Planning or equivalent
- Eligible for Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- Thorough knowledge of all relevant planning legislation, policies, and procedures
