About the Role
This role is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team to manage the contract on behalf of the Project Client, overseeing internal retained risk, interfaces, dependencies, and external stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with the Supply Chain within the Integrated Project Teams (IPT) to enable efficient delivery of assigned scope to budget, time, and quality.

Key responsibilities include fulfilling the duties and obligations of the NEC3 Project Manager on behalf of the Project Client, supporting and leading a team of Project Managers in managing construction contracts within an Integrated Project Team, and establishing, monitoring, and managing consistent contract management practices. You will identify emergent or systemic problems and lead their resolution, manage and monitor contract performance, review and accept programme schedules, and proactively manage risks within the IPT scope while supporting mitigation of HS2 programme-level risks.

You will also be responsible for Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM) duties as delegated by the Client Representative, support delivery of client retained third party works and services by acting as the interface with HS2 employees external to the IPT, and foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing between HS2, other IPTs, and the supply chain.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience of the entire project lifecycle including planning, procuring, developing, and implementing project activities.
- Experience of testing and commissioning across complex technical integration projects.
- Experience of leading, managing people, and working across functions and disciplines to deliver complex objectives.

- Strong project management skills with the ability to develop, plan, and integrate projects to optimise target costs, dependencies, risk management, and project benefits.
- Problem-solving skills to identify issues, review information, manage multiple workstreams, and balance competing demands of stakeholders, cost, time, and quality.
- Decision-making ability to gather and synthesise information, identify options, and apply judgement based on logic and reason.
- Analytical skills to assess data and assist in strategy development.
- Influencing and negotiating skills to work effectively with internal functions and external supply chain partners.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to resolve emergent risk situations.

Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in project management, engineering, commercial management, or equivalent experience.
- Skills profile aligned to APM Project Manager (advanced) level.
- Understanding of project management principles, contract structures, risk identification and management, project schedule management, and technical elements relevant to the HS2 programme.
- Expected to behave consistently with HS2 values of Safety, Leadership, Integrity, and Respect.
