About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects within the fast-paced Data Centre sector as part of our Mission Critical Facilities team. This role focuses on the design and delivery of electrical systems for data centres, working with Colocation Providers, End Users, and Enterprise clients across the UK and EMEA. You will support the development of conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems ranging from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage, including high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear, and power control and monitoring systems. Responsibilities include providing expert advice to clients, leading the design of data centre electrical systems, producing technical specifications and reports, ensuring compliance with standards, coordinating with other disciplines, and monitoring installation to meet design and safety requirements. This role requires client-facing skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a global project team. You will be part of a large, diverse Building Services team in London, committed to professional integrity, ethical standards, and career development.
Experience
- Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience
- Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations and design guides
- Experience with electrical design for large power (11kV) distribution systems, standby generation and UPS, fire/voice alarm and security systems, lighting design, lifts, combined heat and power plant, and data centres
- Familiarity with Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime Institute, TIA942, and EN50600
- Experience working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software and AutoCAD
- Understanding of ETAP software for HV modelling and Neher-McGrath method for cable temperature and ampacity calculations

Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
