About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark projects within the fast-paced Data Centre sector as part of our Mission Critical Facilities team. This role focuses on designing and delivering electrical systems for data centres, working with colocation providers, end users, and enterprise clients across the UK and EMEA. You will develop conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage, including high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear, and power control and monitoring systems. You will provide expert advice to clients, lead the design of data centre electrical systems, produce technical specifications and reports, and ensure coordination with other disciplines such as architects and structural engineers. You will also monitor installation compliance and engage confidently in client-facing discussions. This role offers the chance to work independently and collaboratively within WSP’s global project teams, contributing to some of the most technically challenging projects in the sector.

Experience
- Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience
- Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations and design guides
- Experience with electrical design for large power (11kV) distribution systems, standby generation, UPS, fire/voice alarm and security systems, lighting design, lifts, combined heat and power plant, and data centres
- Familiarity with Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime Institute, TIA942, and EN50600
- Ability to lead, direct, and mentor individuals as well as work effectively within a team
- Experience working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software and AutoCAD for project work allocation and direction

About you
- IT literate with technical understanding of relevant software packages such as Trimble (formerly Amtech)
- Understanding of ETAP software for HV modelling (fault current, current flow, harmonics)
- Knowledge of the Neher-McGrath method for calculating underground cable temperatures and ampacity
- Strong communication skills with confidence in client-facing roles to discuss and agree technical requirements
- Motivated, professional, and able to work independently and collaboratively within a global team

Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
- Relevant electrical engineering qualifications and certifications aligned with UK and EU standards
