We are seeking to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and committed Senior Water Resources Consultant to support a range of projects undertaken by our Sustainable Water Management team spanning water resources planning, water policy and hydrology. You will have responsibility for technical delivery, project management and will support winning new work through the development of proposals. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic, flexible self-starter who is capable of both independent work and working as part of a team. You will be a highly motivated, numerate candidate with excellent communication skills and the ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and finding solutions to new challenges. The role will have a specific focus on existing UK water companies, regional groups and regulators but also offers opportunities to work with a range of clients across multiple sectors, including international projects in the EU and beyond. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in water resources simulation modelling, demand management, hydrological modelling and options appraisal. Our teams work across disciplines, providing opportunities to engage in hydrogeology, water quality, flood risk management and environmental impact assessment. There is scope to shape this role and its seniority to suit the right candidate.

Your Team
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute significantly to the continued success and growth of our Catchment Science team, which brings together extensive expertise in water resources, hydrogeology, water quality, catchment management, hydroecology, hydrology and flood risk. Our team delivers comprehensive integrated water resource planning services to the water industry, regulators and government both in the UK and internationally. We support clients in understanding the resilience of their water resource systems under pressures such as population growth, environmental change, drought and climate impacts. We assist in identifying, developing and appraising supply and demand solutions, and in decision making, adaptive planning, situation analysis and strategic planning justification. Our clients rely on us for strategic planning programmes including water resource management and regional plans, water resources modelling, strategic options, environmental destination, WRGIS, sustainable abstraction, environmental appraisal, strategic environmental assessment, drought planning and the Water Industry National Environment Programme. Experience
Demonstrable experience applying water resources management tools and broad water resource planning experience gained in consultancy, water companies, regulatory bodies or academia. Understanding of the latest UK water resources management regulatory requirements including the Water Resource Planning Guidelines. Experience in projects such as environmental destination, water resources modelling and/or demand management. Strong numerate and analytical skills with the ability to analyse problems and develop innovative solutions. Some programming experience in Python and/or R is advantageous, with an interest in applying these skills to water management solutions. Experience managing small projects or a strong interest in developing project management skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to write high quality, concise reports.

Qualifications
A degree-level qualification in a relevant subject such as geography, hydrology, earth/environmental science, civil engineering or mathematics. A postgraduate qualification in water resources management, hydrology or a related discipline is desirable. You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.
