About the Role
The Site Engineering Manager will ensure all contracting and operational engineering maintenance requirements for buildings, plant, utility, and infrastructure projects are specified to comply with all applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards. You will provide technical advice across the wider Scientific campus sites to ensure engineering systems operate efficiently on a day-to-day basis and remain compliant with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include carrying out root cause analysis of system failures, supporting Facilities Management Department operations through audits (financial, commercial, and technical), and managing remedial works and process improvements based on maintenance management system data.
You will provide technical guidance and training to Facilities Management teams and administer business process tasks through systems such as Maximo, Planet, MaPs, and Trackwise. Representing the Engineering function at regulatory audits as a subject matter expert is a key part of the role. You will review contracting and technical regulatory documents, including safety-related documents such as pressure systems written schemes of examination, troubleshoot engineering system failures, and liaise with Estates and Engineering Departments to develop corrective action plans.
Additional duties include reporting failures or performance issues via the UKHSA Trackwise system, managing change control documentation for high containment facilities, handling non-conformances, monitoring and reporting KPIs for engineering maintenance and facilities, conducting regular system and service audits on contractors, and line managing Project & Contract Managers.
This role is office-based at the Scientific Campus in Colindale. Hybrid working is not available. Security clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level is required, and candidates must meet residency requirements for national security vetting.
Experience
- Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or other constructional function
- Experience in an Engineering operational role
- Experience in a Project Management operational role
