About the Role
Croydon is London's second largest borough, full of brilliant and diverse people, businesses, and places. The Council is undergoing significant transformation to reshape and renew the organisation in response to financial challenges, building a new council focused on delivering excellent services sustainably for its residents.
We are seeking a full-time Property Lawyer to play a key strategic role in delivering high-quality legal services to the Council. The successful candidate will manage a varied and intellectually challenging caseload, working across all areas of Property, Planning, and Local Government Law, including high value and complex matters.
This role requires a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (CILEX) with significant experience in Property, Planning, and Local Government Law. Experience working in local government is desirable but not essential; applications from private sector candidates with local government experience are also welcome.
Croydon Council supports hybrid working with minimum office attendance requirements, offering flexibility and remote working options.
Interview dates are planned for the week commencing 28 September 2026.

Experience
Significant experience in Property, Planning, and Local Government Law, including managing high value and complex matters. Proven track record of building and sustaining effective relationships with directorates and senior leadership. Experience in local government is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive (CILEX). Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check if required by the role.
