As a band 5 on Hedley Atkins you will be responsible for the day to day planning, implementation and evaluation of bedside nursing care. You willindependently manage a group of patients whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care. You are wholly accountable for your practice in line with the NMC code of professional conduct and you should take every reasonable opportunityto sustain and improve your knowledge and professional competence. You should be an effective communicator with patients and their significant people regarding their disease treatment and management. Equality, diversity and inclusion underpins our interactions with our patients and our colleagues and are core values for our ward team and wider MDT. You should be competent in undertaking physical observations including: cardiovascular observations, blood sugar monitoring, urinalysis, fluidbalance monitoring, catheter care and GCS. You will be supported and development competencies in managing chest and ascitic drains (temporary and permanent), PICC/PORT care, brachytherapy, PCA management, syringe driver management, NG and ryles tube insertion and management, and management of oncology emergencies. You will be responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication via oral, enteral and IV routes including transfusion of blood andblood products.
