About the Role
We are seeking a kind, patient, and reliable Support Worker to provide compassionate 1:1 support at home and 2:1 support in the community for a young man in his 20s with a learning disability. This is a complex role where you will help him feel safe and settled by offering consistent support. He communicates verbally on his own terms and enjoys having company, even if he does not always engage directly. He loves daily outings by car to parks, museums, zoos, and other places he enjoys, while at home he prefers quiet interests and his own space.
Your responsibilities will include helping with personal care (some tasks he completes independently), supporting meal preparation, food shopping and cooking, monitoring his environment to reduce risk, and assisting with daily routines. The role involves working within a well-managed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plan, and full Proact-SCIP training will be provided. You will join a well-trained, supportive team proud to work for one of the UK's Great Places to Work.
Experience
Experience is helpful but not essential. What matters most is a calm, observant nature and a good sense of humour.
About you
You are kind, patient, reliable, and committed to providing consistent and compassionate support. You enjoy working with people and are able to adapt to complex needs with sensitivity and respect.
Qualifications
A UK Manual Driving Licence is essential for this role. Full Proact-SCIP training will be provided. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
