About the Role
As a Support Worker within the NHS, you will organise and provide person-centred and culturally appropriate activities for service users in line with the OPD Pathway principles. Working as part of a team, you will deliver interventions under supervision, using desistance principles to help service users achieve and maintain a stable, socially included life in the community. You will support service users to engage in social, recreational, and occupational activities, applying psychologically-informed individual and group work approaches under the guidance of qualified staff. Your role includes supporting service users to participate in activities consistent with their psychological formulation and risk considerations, assisting them in working towards personal goals and development.

You will demonstrate awareness of psychological formulation principles used within the OPD Pathway and apply these under supervision. Risk assessment and management within the Hub setting is a key responsibility, ensuring safety within a desistance-oriented framework and communicating relevant risk observations to qualified staff. You will work in partnership with other agencies, including supporting service user engagement with third sector organisations, and remain sensitive to safeguarding needs of children and adults.

Effective communication is essential, using warmth and empathy to empower service users and overcoming barriers to understanding. You will ensure timely and accurate communication and record-keeping within the team, promote Hub projects as supportive desistance-focused interventions, and contribute to partnership working with criminal justice and third sector agencies.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the Social Inclusion Lead with day-to-day Hub operations, managing physical resources and supplies, ensuring environmental safety checks are completed, and participating in research, audit, and service evaluation activities. You will maintain high professional standards through continuous professional development, supervision, and appraisal, and support service users who may present with distress or challenging behaviours.

Proficiency in IT for email, intranet, clinical records, and report writing is required. You will work within environments that may expose you to verbal and physical abuse and are expected to maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and professional self-governance in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
