About the Role
As a Support Worker within the Adult Services Directorate at Westminster City Council, you will play a vital role in supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and other complex conditions. You will ensure that each customer is central to decisions about their life, providing encouragement and support related to activities and employment opportunities that maximise choice and participation. Your work will contribute to empathetic, person-centred planning and ensure customers can communicate using their preferred methods.

You will liaise with significant people in each customer’s circle and provide thoughtful support in intimate and personal care including manual handling, toileting, bathing, dressing, eating, drinking, and medication administration. Supporting people with physical disabilities, including wheelchair users, you may act as an escort and, if holding a UK driving licence, a driver. You will report any health and safety concerns affecting customers, colleagues, or the public.

Administrative responsibilities include completing session evaluations, communication plans, and risk assessments, as well as contributing to problem solving. You will handle customer information confidentially and promote their rights. You will contribute to team planning and service development, ensuring support remains person-centred. You will evaluate one-to-one and group sessions, stay updated with legislation, policies, and safeguarding initiatives, attend regular supervision and appraisals, and commit to your own learning and development.
