About the Role
Change lives. Shape futures. Lead with purpose. Every year, hundreds of young people with learning disabilities face barriers to getting into work. At Mencap, we believe they deserve the chance to shine — and that’s where you come in. We’re looking for an inspirational Supported Internship Programme Coach to lead our Supported Employment programmes across London. This full-time, permanent position offers you the chance to oversee a programme that transforms potential into achievement — giving young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) the skills, confidence, and experience to move into paid work.

Your mission will be to help young people with a learning disability (up to age 25) take that all-important step into paid work. Most of the programme happens in real workplaces, with Mencap supporting learners to boost their Maths and English skills along the way — building their confidence, independence, and employability.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of the programme, ensuring it meets our curriculum, Ofsted, and Department for Education (DfE) standards.
- Managing budgets and resources effectively to ensure maximum impact.
- Using quality frameworks to track and improve programme success.
- Line-managing Programme Coordinators, who oversee local teams of Tutors, Job Coaches, and Employer Engagement Officers.
- Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including Local Authorities, employers, schools, and colleges.

Join Mencap and be part of a diverse and inclusive workplace where every colleague is supported to thrive. This is more than a job — it’s a chance to change lives and help young people into brighter futures.

Requirements

Experience

Confident in navigating Ofsted requirements and driving quality, compliance, and accurate reporting.

About you
Passionate and self-motivated with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Able to develop partnerships and maintain professional relationships. Strong budget management skills with the ability to secure additional funding. Knowledge of safe working practices and a genuine commitment to empowering people with learning disabilities.

Qualifications
While specific qualifications are not detailed, a background relevant to SEND, education, or supported employment is advantageous. Mencap values personality and values highly and provides training and development to succeed in the role.
