We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Switchboard Operator to join our busy Switchboard department at Harefield Hospital. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and clinical staff, directing calls to the appropriate departments and alerting hospital emergency teams as necessary. You will handle emergency calls calmly and professionally, including cardiac arrests, trauma calls, major incidents, fire alarms, security alarms, and other critical alerts.
You will work closely with a dedicated team, maintaining accurate call logs and following established procedures to ensure the highest standard of service. This role is vital to the smooth operation of the hospital and requires excellent communication skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure.

Experience
Previous switchboard experience is essential, preferably within an NHS environment.

You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour under pressure. You must be able to work effectively as part of a close-knit team and demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications
A good standard of education (e.g. GCSEs or equivalent) is required. An NVQ in customer care is desirable. You should be computer literate with keyboard skills including proficiency in MS Outlook.
