About the Role
Lift New Rickstones, graded 'Good' as of November 2023, offers a state-of-the-art building with fantastic facilities for both students and staff. Over the last eight years, the academy has more than doubled its student numbers and remains a popular, oversubscribed choice in the local area, recently expanding with a new building to meet demand.
The school prides itself on a friendly and supportive team environment with high staff retention rates and a strong commitment to professional development through an extensive CPD programme.
We are seeking a passionate and committed Teacher of Humanities to join our established department. The Humanities curriculum integrates History, Religious Studies, and Geography, each led by subject specialists. We have a well-established KS3 curriculum and exemplary resources for staff. At GCSE level, we follow the AQA specification offering History, Geography, and Religious Studies pathways.
Students benefit from a rich enrichment programme including local and international trips to destinations such as Berlin, Krakow, Prague (including Auschwitz), and a residential in Wales where KS4 students climb Mt Snowdon to experience physical geography firsthand. The department is housed in a newly built facility featuring specialist classrooms, a dedicated staff room, and brand-new Food Technology spaces.
Our "Curriculum Drivers" guide everything we do, encouraging students to be safe, happy, proud, and to reach their full potential:
- Mastery: delivering excellent teaching and learning to develop ambitious and committed students.
- Character: nurturing well-rounded young people who "do the right thing when no-one is looking".
- Perspective: fostering open-minded, compassionate students who understand their place in the world and promote inclusivity and justice.
