About the Role
Lift New Rickstones, graded 'Good' (November 2023), offers a state-of-the-art building with fantastic facilities for both students and staff. The academy has experienced significant growth over the last 8 years, with student numbers more than doubling and a new building added to meet demand. It is a popular and oversubscribed choice in the local area.
We are seeking a passionate and committed Teacher of Performing Arts to join our established department. The Drama department has a strong history of excellent outcomes at KS4 and currently offers the BTEC Tech Award in Performing Arts - Acting, with the opportunity to review and potentially change the course.
The department benefits from a purpose-built Drama studio and theatre space, both equipped with brand new lighting and sound systems. Musical Theatre Club is very popular and collaborates with the Music department to perform showcases at the end of the Winter and Summer terms. There is enthusiasm to produce a whole school show with strong staff support.
Drama is taught as a discrete subject throughout Key Stage 3, aiming to introduce students to drama and develop their appreciation of theatre’s cultural and historical significance. Students build skills in creating, rehearsing, performing, and evaluating both scripted and improvised drama, fostering confidence, communication, teamwork, resilience, and independence.
Lift New Rickstones is a great place to work, with a friendly and supportive team, high staff retention rates, and a strong focus on professional development through an extensive CPD programme. Our "Curriculum Drivers" encourage students to be safe, happy, proud, and to reach their full potential through mastery, character, and perspective.
