The Team Leader role within Evelina Outpatients involves leading a team of patient access coordinators to deliver a high quality administrative support service. You will manage day-to-day team operations, support ongoing projects, and ensure effective communication and liaison within a busy multi-disciplinary environment. This role requires handling complex and sensitive issues with minimal supervision and contributing to the smooth running of the service.

The post holder will be responsible for organising meetings, managing staff performance, motivating the team, supporting project implementation, and maintaining accurate records. You will act as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, manage confidential information professionally, and ensure compliance with Trust policies and legislation including Data Protection and Health and Safety.

The Evelina directorate provides a comprehensive range of paediatric services, including neonatal intensive care, emergency care, day-case facilities, sleep and neuro-rehabilitation services, and community nursing. The directorate is closely integrated with King’s College London, delivering significant research and development programmes and innovative child health partnerships.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive business administration experience demonstrating key functions of providing administrative support
- Experience working in a customer service setting

About you
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both face-to-face, on the telephone and in writing
- Ability to lead, manage, motivate and guide others to meet deadlines and deliver high quality service
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Confidence in decision making when managing competing priorities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships at all levels
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding, health and safety, infection control, and risk management policies

Qualifications
- Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 certificate in management or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
- Evidence of formal further training and significant healthcare administration experience
- Desirable: Understanding of Trust hospital and community systems (e.g. EPIC, ERS, Carenotes)
- Desirable: Awareness of and working towards national targets (e.g. 18WW, 2WW)
