About the Role
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is one of the UK government’s largest public service departments, managing an extensive estate of over 1.4 million square metres across 800+ sites and supporting around 78,000 colleagues. The DWP Estates team is focused on transforming this estate to be smaller, more affordable, adaptable, sustainable, and cost-effective while maintaining high standards and a professional working culture.
The Technical Security Delivery Lead plays a critical role in overseeing the delivery of complex security transformation projects across the DWP estate. This includes managing the replacement and enhancement of electronic security controls through the DWP supply chain, ensuring best practice, innovation, and cost efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
This role involves growing the Department’s security capabilities by identifying opportunities for business benefits, improving performance, reducing costs, and maintaining the high security standards expected. You will lead supplier delivery management, engage with key stakeholders, and ensure compliance with legislative and government security standards. The role also includes responsibility for data management in line with GDPR and collaboration with the Estates Performance & Audit team to develop performance frameworks.
The position supports strategic goals such as optimising the estate, investing in infrastructure, embedding sustainability, delivering cost-effective services, and fostering a best-in-class working culture within government property management.
Welsh language skills are desirable for roles located in Wales.
Experience
- Expert knowledge and practical experience of electronic security systems across large, diverse portfolios, including Access Control Systems, lone worker devices, panic alarms, Intruder Detection, and video surveillance.
- Experience in signal management and integration of electronic security controls within Alarm Receiving Centres.
- Knowledge of cyber security standards and networking protocols.
- Experience working within Government Security frameworks, including engagement with UK National Technical Authorities such as NPSA, NCSC, and NACE.
- Proven track record managing large Capital Expenditure projects with senior-level commercial and financial acumen.
- Experience conducting and managing security risk assessments.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence senior operational stakeholders and deliver security solutions aligned with business strategy.
- Experience collaborating with key stakeholders to solve problems and manage escalations.
