About the Role
This special place in South West London has a vibrant and diverse community with a rich cultural heritage. Kingston Council is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its communities, and as a Temporary Accommodation Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of all Temporary Accommodation. This varied role involves managing a wide property portfolio of temporary accommodation leased from landlords, hostels, and nightly paid accommodation. You will liaise with landlords to ensure that repairing obligations and health & housing safety rating standards are met, while also managing relationships with homeless households in temporary accommodation. Your responsibilities will include assisting in income recovery, investigating anti-social behaviour, and recovering possession when necessary. Participation in an emergency out-of-hours rota is required, with enhancements paid in accordance with policy. You will work in our offices in central Kingston and visit hostels and temporary accommodation, with potential opportunities for remote work.

Experience
Experience in a busy frontline housing service or similar, and/or significant technical experience in property management.

About you
We are looking for a positive, adaptable, and resilient individual with strong interpersonal and decision-making skills, great customer service skills, and knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly around property standards and tenancy issues. You should have an understanding of the needs of homeless households in temporary accommodation and experience in partnership working, influencing, and negotiating to achieve successful outcomes. Access to transport is required for property inspections.

Qualifications
Knowledge of private sector housing law and repairing and health and safety obligations relating to standards in the private rented sector.
