About the Role
Are you passionate about technical theatre? Is sound and lighting your thing? The Spotlight Theatre, a Broxbourne Council venue close to Hoddesdon High Street, hosts a variety of first-class entertainment shows and events for all ages. As a Venue Technician, you will be responsible for the technical operation supporting The Spotlight’s busy events and entertainments programme. You will ensure the smooth running of all technical aspects of productions as well as provide support for a range of events including cinema, conferences, and private functions. Duties include rigging, setting up, and operating sound, lighting, and stage equipment according to the venue’s busy schedule. This varied role involves practical technical work and supervision of casual technicians. You will need excellent interpersonal skills alongside experience in large-scale technical work and production.
Experience
At least three years of professional theatre technician experience in a multifunctional venue. Knowledge and experience across a broad range of technical theatre aspects such as sound, lighting, set building, and stage management. In-depth understanding of Health and Safety issues.
About you
Excellent proven customer care skills. Strong communication skills and ability to converse fluently in English with members of the public. A team player with flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Strong logistical skills. Ability to supervise casual technicians effectively.
Qualifications
Electrical installation and formal backstage technical qualifications are desirable. First Aid at Work training (essential; training provided if necessary). Fire Marshal training (essential; training provided if necessary). Commitment to safer recruitment, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
