About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Workshop Semi-Skilled / Skilled Technician to maintain and repair vehicles in compliance with strict Health & Safety regulations, O Licence requirements, and DVSA standards. You will apply professional technical methods and standards, communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor/Manager during maintenance and repair processes, and complete assigned workloads and associated documentation in a timely manner. The role requires a willingness to undertake technical training from both internal and external sources. You will be expected to respect and properly use the equipment provided by Harrow Council, hold or be prepared to train for relevant licences to drive or test vehicles and equipment, and have knowledge of or a willingness to learn H&S regulations, O Licence requirements, and DVSA standards for both Light Goods and Heavy Goods Vehicles. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working environment while observing the Council’s safe working practices, risk assessments, and COSHH handling and storage procedures is essential.

Experience
- Experience ensuring 'O' Licence and DVSA requirements are adhered to in relation to service vehicles and their operation.

About You
- Hold a current UK Drivers Licence and have a vehicle available for use.
- Willingness to undertake technical training and qualifications as required.

Qualifications
Grade 8
- Hold or be willing to undertake NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in the service, repair, and maintenance of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV).
- Hold or be willing to undertake studies for a Class 1 or 2 Driving Licence.
Grade 9
- Hold a City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in the service, repair, and maintenance of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV).
- Hold or be willing to undertake studies for a Class 1 or 2 Driving Licence.
- Hold or be willing to undertake studies for an MOT Licence.
- Hold or be willing to undertake studies for LOLER Certification (Lifting Operations Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998).
