About the Role
The London Borough of Havering is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join the MASH Team within the People Directorate - Starting Well. In this pivotal role, you will review all safeguarding contacts and work alongside the MASH Team Manager to determine the appropriate service and framework to meet the needs of children and families. You will directly manage and supervise a small number of social workers handling complex contacts and referrals, ensuring all supervision and performance reviews comply with Havering’s supervision policy. You will support the team manager in maintaining and developing high professional standards across the team.

You will be responsible for providing clear RAG rating decisions at the initial point of contact, informed by the agreed threshold decision document, and outlining appropriate screening actions. Your role includes effectively reviewing and analysing information about past history and current events to assess their impact on the child’s wellbeing and determine the appropriate intervention. You will ensure families receive timely responses in accordance with agreed MASH timeframes and contribute to daily MASH partnership meetings and LADO strategy meetings.

Additionally, you will provide reflective training to partner agencies to improve referral quality and MASH functions, undertake quality assurance activities including multi-agency and dip audits, and support team development and recruitment processes. Havering is one of the greenest boroughs in London, valuing resourcefulness, initiative, and fresh ideas. This role offers opportunities for career progression and the chance to make a meaningful difference in the community.
