You will be part of a high-performing, inclusive, and sociable team working across multiple locations including London, Darlington, Norwich, Birmingham, and Leeds.

This role offers two distinct streams within the Economics profession: Secure Growth and Global Economics. You are invited to express a preference in your application, which will be considered but not guaranteed.

- Developing sectoral expertise on critical goods and supply chains such as minerals and semiconductors.
- Leading external engagement across government and beyond to ensure robust assessments.
- Delivering data-driven insights in response to ad-hoc policy demands.

In Global Economics, you will work within the Emerging Markets branch covering regions including the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Central Asia (including Russia & Ukraine), South Asia (excluding India and China), and Southeast Asia. Responsibilities include:

- Leading economic analysis for your geographic portfolio, working closely with FCDO posts.
- Producing recommendations for the UK’s position on IMF programmes and OECD economic surveys.
- Monitoring international energy markets and supporting policy analysis on economic impacts.
- Contributing to national security briefings and ministerial engagement on international economic issues.
- Supporting crisis response efforts related to international energy markets.

Team members work flexibly and support ad hoc requests including ministerial visits, correspondence, and Freedom of Information requests. You will also contribute to the corporate life of the team and wider group.

Developed Vetting (DV) clearance is required. Candidates without DV can start with Security Check (SC) while DV is processed.
