About the Role
United Colleges Group (UCG) is seeking an ambitious and outstanding Assistant Principal for Creative Industries and Digital to join our forward-thinking education provider. UCG delivers education to over 11,000 learners annually, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs. We offer a wide range of vocational education and training across multiple campuses and subject areas.
The Assistant Principal will contribute to the strategic and operational management, development, and performance of all aspects of college operations within the Creative Industries and Digital curriculum portfolio, which includes Art, Music, Media, Performing Arts, and Computing. This role is responsible for ensuring a coherent and ambitious curriculum offer, maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment, and aligning curriculum development with learner needs, industry requirements, and sector skills demands.
Key responsibilities include implementing quality improvement strategies aligned with the Education Inspection Framework, driving improvements in achievement, attendance, retention, progression, and overall student outcomes, and leading a team of Curriculum Managers. The role also involves developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as employers, industry partners, universities, and awarding organisations to ensure curriculum relevance and progression opportunities.

Experience
- Proven success in improving student achievement, attendance, retention, and progression outcomes.
- Experience of initiating and managing significant cultural change and shaping management teams.
- Experience motivating, developing, and managing multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, teaching innovation, and delivery.
- Knowledge of education policy contexts including further education, higher education, adult and inclusive learning, and employer engagement.
- Ability to use data, quality assurance, and performance information to drive continuous improvement.
- Understanding of the creative and digital sectors, industry engagement, employability, and progression within curriculum development.
