About the Role
Join the London Borough of Sutton's Adult Social Care as an Assistant Team Manager (ATM) within the Mental Health Team and receive a generous Welcome Bonus of £1000, paid in your first month's salary. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will support team operations including recruitment, retention, and workload allocation. You will provide ongoing supervision to maintain exceptional standards of casework and offer guidance, leveraging the Team Manager’s expertise for complex cases. You will also contribute to ensuring commissioned services are cost-effective and participate in co-producing service improvements with service users and their families.
The Mental Health Team is a boroughwide specialist service coordinating social care for individuals with complex mental health needs. The team delivers the AMHP service, works closely with inpatient services to promote timely discharges, and coordinates community-based support including Care Act assessments, reviews, safeguarding, and S117 aftercare. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a strength-based approach focused on achieving the best outcomes for service users.
As part of the Duty Manager rota, you will assist in supporting the Mental Health Team’s day-to-day functions, including acting as Safeguarding Manager for statutory safeguarding enquiries. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced social workers with strong management and leadership skills, ideally within a local authority context, or for those already in management seeking a new challenge.
The role requires in-depth knowledge of current legislation, regulations, and guidance relevant to social work practice in mental health and social care. You will support staff to adopt creative and innovative approaches, manage your own time effectively to meet deadlines, and ensure the quality of work delivered by your team meets established standards.
