About the Role
The School of Art, Architecture and Design (AAD) is seeking a 3D Making Technical Demonstrator to support students across a variety of courses. This fixed-term role (6 months) involves maintaining a high standard of professional and quality output to enhance students' learning outcomes and projects. You will provide practical demonstrations tailored to different skill levels, offering advice and support on all aspects of 3D Modelmaking and Prototyping. Your expertise will cover a broad range of digital and analogue processes and techniques across various materials, including process selection, production, material selection, machining, fabrication, joining, assembly, and finishing.
Working closely with academic course teams and technical colleagues, you will integrate your specialist knowledge into academic programmes and student projects. You will support students from Architecture, Interiors, Product and Furniture, Fine Art, and other subject areas at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
In addition to your technical skills, you will manage all aspects of Health and Safety, including conducting Safety Inductions, preparing Risk Assessments, and supervising students to ensure safe workshop practices. Your role is vital in delivering a comprehensive technical experience that supports students’ understanding of both digital and analogue modelmaking and prototyping processes.

Experience
Proven knowledge and experience in the technical delivery of modelmaking and prototyping within academic settings. Ability to demonstrate a broad range of digital and analogue making techniques and processes. Experience working with diverse student groups across multiple disciplines is desirable.

You have a strong focus on health and safety and are confident managing workshop environments and supervising students. You are adaptable and able to support students at varying skill levels, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere.
Qualifications
Relevant technical qualifications or demonstrable expertise in 3D modelmaking, prototyping, or related fields are expected. Experience in health and safety management within workshop settings is essential.
