About the Role
Ealing Facilities Management provides comprehensive facilities services across approximately 115 buildings within the London Borough of Ealing, including cleaning services. This permanent Cleaning Operative role requires a flexible approach to shift working and location within the council. While a regular site and roster pattern will be agreed, the post holder must be adaptable to changes in roster and site assignments to meet service needs.
As a Cleaning Operative, you will undertake both team and individual cleaning duties across various sites. Your tasks will include clearing waste bins on floors, washing, dusting, polishing, vacuum cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and other cleaning activities as per agreed schedules and cleaning specifications. You will also perform ad hoc cleaning tasks as directed by the Cleaning Manager.
This role is customer-facing and requires effective communication skills and a professional approach to service delivery. Ealing Council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults; therefore, the post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Experience
Demonstrable previous cleaning experience is required.
About you
You must have a flexible and adaptable approach to work, able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to liaise with stakeholders and monitor cleaning comments books. A command of spoken English sufficient to perform the role effectively is required in line with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
You must have an understanding and working awareness of relevant Health and Safety procedures and systems including COSHH, Manual Handling, Personal Protective Equipment, and Slips, Trips and Falls, sufficient to work safely without direct supervision. You should understand the importance of reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Qualifications
Hold a full UK driving licence.
