About the Role
Ealing Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Research and Consultation Officer to join our Research and Insight team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping the council understand the needs, experiences, and priorities of our residents, communities, and businesses. You will design and deliver high-quality research, data analysis, and public consultations that directly inform decision-making across the council. Working closely with service teams and senior leaders, you will ensure that evidence, insight, and resident voice are at the heart of shaping policy, strategy, and service design.

Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, managing, and analysing quantitative and qualitative research projects, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews
- Delivering public consultations and engagement activities in line with statutory requirements and best practice
- Collaborating with internal teams to understand evidence needs and produce actionable insights
- Presenting findings through clear, accessible reports and data visualisations that influence decisions at all levels
- Supporting the development of the council’s corporate evidence base, ensuring consistency, transparency, and quality
- Monitoring emerging trends, resident feedback, and local intelligence to inform service planning and policy development
Experience
- Designing and delivering social research or consultation projects
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data and insight to inform decisions
- Experience using both quantitative and qualitative tools such as Excel, PowerBI, or NVivo for analysis and reporting
- Understanding of consultation and engagement principles within a local government or public policy context
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. Equalities Act, GDPR, Consultation principles)
- Experience using digital consultation platforms is desirable
