The vacancy Your typical day could start with reviewing tenant rent accounts and making proactive calls to support tenants in managing their arrears. Then, you might work with the Financial Inclusion team to assist a tenant struggling with Universal Credit or housing benefits. In the afternoon, you could be preparing legal paperwork for court proceedings or collaborating with your colleagues to find innovative ways to support residents, ensuring they can sustain their tenancies. As a Collections Officer, you'll be at the heart of Peabody's mission to provide more than just housing. You'll be a key point of contact for tenants, helping them navigate financial challenges while maximising rent collection. Every day will offer new opportunities to make a difference, whether through offering guidance on welfare reform, negotiating payment plans, or preventing evictions. With a strong focus on early intervention, you'll help ensure that tenants can remain in their homes, and you'll work closely with our support teams to provide holistic assistance for those in need. You're a people person who's passionate about delivering excellent customer service. You enjoy problem-solving and building relationships across the organisation to find effective solutions. You'll work closely with both internal teams and external partners, ensuring you have the resources and support needed to help tenants manage their accounts. While you'll need to be in the office a few days per week to collaborate with your team, you'll also have the flexibility to work remotely. Your role will focus on managing rent arrears and debt recovery across a variety of tenures. From negotiating payment agreements to assisting with legal proceedings, you'll ensure that Peabody's arrears collection service is both effective and compliant. You'll be instrumental in maintaining tenancy sustainment, offering advice and support to help tenants manage their finances and remain in their homes. To be successful in this role, you're: Committed to first-class customer service, with a passion for helping tenants manage their financial responsibilities. Resilient with a positive, flexible, and compassionate approach, always finding a solution to any challenge. Organised, able to manage a diverse caseload and prioritise your work to meet targets and deadlines. Experienced in arrears management or income collection, ideally within the social housing sector, with a solid understanding of welfare benefits and housing-related support. Willing to keep up to date with industry changes and expand your knowledge of arrears recovery and tenancy sustainment.
