About the Role
The Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) Manager will play a pivotal role in the strategic development, implementation, and review of the South London CRDC strategy in collaboration with the CRDC director and deputy directors. Acting as an ambassador for the South London CRDC locally within GSTT, Oxleas, and LGT, as well as nationally through the CRDC network, you will represent the centre at relevant meetings and events related to commercial research.
You will oversee commercial research delivery at the Hub site at Guy's Hospital, working closely with research teams and infrastructure to ensure a financially sustainable portfolio. In partnership with other R&D trial delivery teams, you will provide operational oversight of the late phase commercial trial facility and CRDC hub, including infrastructure, quality management, and stakeholder engagement.
Supporting research leadership at LGT and Oxleas, you will help develop the capability and capacity to deliver a growing portfolio of commercial research. You will lead business planning and budget management for the CRDC hub and spoke sites, ensuring income capture, budget adherence, and cost reduction in collaboration with Research Management Accountants and Financial Analysts.
Additionally, you will define and develop the infrastructure required to deliver the full portfolio of studies, working closely with LCRN leadership, NHS service providers, and the NIHR CRN National Coordinating Centre. You will maintain close working relationships with the KHP Clinical Trials Office to align costing and trial approval processes.
As the manager responsible for trial portfolio delivery, you will ensure resources are in place for local delivery of portfolio studies, develop key performance indicators and metrics, and compile reporting documents for the CRDC Directors, GSTT R&D, partner research leadership, and NIHR. You will oversee all aspects of the CRDC portfolio with a focus on timely delivery of commercial research studies and support negotiation and advice for spoke sites regarding trial requirements.
In your leadership role, you will line manage the Business Development Manager, support staff professional development, share best practices, motivate teams, and manage recruitment and performance issues. You will also maintain up-to-date knowledge of research governance, including HRA and good clinical practice, ensuring the highest standards of study conduct.
Effective communication across all levels of the CRDC and partner trusts is essential. You will support CRDC directors in clinician engagement to grow the number of Principal Investigators at spoke sites and ensure timely, documented communication in line with governance standards.
Finally, you will champion patient, carer, and public involvement in CRDC activities, embedding their input at all relevant decision-making levels and ensuring the highest professional standards in all engagement interactions.
