About the Role
Jewish Care’s Community Centres are warm, welcoming spaces where older people come to connect, stay active and feel part of a vibrant community. As a Community Centre Activities Assistant, you will help deliver meaningful, enjoyable experiences that truly enrich people’s lives. You will support the delivery of daily activities such as chair-based exercise, discussion groups, card games, creative sessions, and social events, as well as help develop and deliver a wider programme of community activities.
Working closely with Centre Managers, Community Hub Managers and volunteers, you will ensure our centres are safe, engaging, and inclusive environments. Your responsibilities will include facilitating activities across Community Hubs, preparing and delivering day-centre sessions, assisting with daily setup and close-down of the centre, supporting welfare-related administration and data entry, and helping the team meet KPIs and deadlines. You will also use member feedback to improve service quality and follow safeguarding guidance, raising any concerns appropriately.
Experience
- Engaging with older or disabled people, including those living with dementia (Essential)
- Working effectively in a team (Essential)
- Strong communication and customer service skills (Essential)
- Ability to remain calm, positive and respectful in all situations (Essential)
- Ability to work independently and use your initiative (Essential)
- Problem-solving skills and confidence to think clearly under pressure (Essential)

Qualifications
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Knowledge of the Jewish community (Desirable)
- Experience working with volunteers (Desirable)
