About the Role
Our division is responsible for safeguarding the firm against regulatory and reputational risks, reinforcing a strong culture of compliance through a robust, enterprise-wide risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm’s second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm’s compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors adherence to new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm’s responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries.

You will join a diverse team with members from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds including law, accounting, sales, and trading. We seek individuals with sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to adapt to a changing regulatory landscape.

The Digital Assets team is a multi-disciplinary group within Global Banking & Markets - Public, focused on defining and executing Goldman Sachs’ distributed ledger technology (DLT) and blockchain efforts firmwide, including cryptocurrency-related products, digital money, and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). This role supports regional Compliance coverage in EMEA for the firm’s Digital Assets business and plays an integral part in shaping and executing the firm’s Compliance strategy for Digital Assets and the emerging regulatory and risk environment.

This position sits at the intersection of digital asset product advisory, DLT and tokenisation governance, and emerging risk oversight, supporting both traditional Compliance coverage and novel on-chain activity. The Digital Assets Compliance Team drives the firm’s compliance approach with business, regulatory and compliance-related matters in an evolving regulatory space.

Responsibilities include acting as a key Compliance contact for Digital Assets in EMEA, collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess on-chain, counterparty, and transaction-related risks, and designing effective controls and monitoring. You will advise on all stages of the digital asset and DLT product lifecycle—including design, governance, control implementation, and ongoing supervision—with a focus on tokenised capital markets and digital money solutions. You will design and manage risk and compliance controls for new products and technologies, monitor and advise on applicable UK, EU and global regulatory developments impacting digital assets, and translate complex jurisdiction-specific changes into actionable compliance frameworks for the EMEA region.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating cross-border regulatory responses with Americas and APAC teams, supporting responses to regulatory exams, audits, and remediation efforts as the escalation point for significant Digital Asset Compliance issues, and understanding cross-business and cross-regional risks and impact to provide creative Compliance solutions and develop firmwide networks.

This role involves working across a range of commercial areas including capital markets activity using blockchain technology on GS DAP®, crypto-linked trading products and content, blockchain technology for the firm’s collateral mobility, digital money solutions across transactions, and managing a portfolio of strategic investments in blockchain infrastructure companies.
