About the Role
The post holder will work alongside consultant colleagues to provide Clinical Oncology services at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Responsibilities include diagnosis and treatment of patients across hospitals, health centres, clinics, or other premises as required. The role involves continuing clinical responsibility for patients under your care, with appropriate delegation and training of staff. Domiciliary consultations may be required occasionally. You will manage patients under the National Health Service Act 1977 where applicable. The post involves working in joint-clinic settings supported by other oncologists within the multidisciplinary team (MDT). Inpatient care is delivered via a ward attending rota system shared among clinical oncology consultants, equating to approximately two ward cover weeks per year during which routine work is cancelled.
Teaching is an integral part of the role, with all consultants expected to participate in undergraduate teaching during clinical work. Additional teaching responsibilities will be allocated time within the job plan. You will contribute to the training and support of doctors in training, including acting as an Educational Supervisor.
Clinical trial activity and research form a key element of the role, with expectations to engage in clinical research as agreed with the clinical director.
Participation in clinical governance activities is required, including clinical audit, guideline and protocol development, and clinical risk management.
Consultants are also expected to contribute to the management and development of their clinical service and support the smooth running of their directorate, complying with Trust policies, Standing Orders, and Financial Regulations.

Experience
Proven experience in Clinical Oncology with a focus on urological and prostate cancer is essential. Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing inpatient and outpatient oncology services is required.

Qualifications
Full GMC registration with a license to practice and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Clinical Oncology. Eligibility for consultant appointment within the NHS. Commitment to ongoing professional development and participation in clinical research.
