Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm. Part-time applicants may be considered for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9am - 5pm.
Salary
Up to £196,840 per annum (FTE) depending on experience.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at HMP Belmarsh, a Category A prison housing approximately 675 patients with a wide range of needs, including highly complex and acute mental health conditions. You will support high-profile patients across the general population and a 33-bed inpatient ward. Joining an experienced integrated mental health team, including another onsite Psychiatrist, you will work closely with officers and patients, building rapport and collaborating with matrons to lead the teams. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong leadership skills to thrive in a dynamic environment.
How We Will Support You
You will be part of a team of over 20 experienced and supportive Consultant Psychiatrists, with access to monthly Consultant meetings and one-to-one clinical supervision. A bespoke induction programme is provided, including the Introducing Health in Justice training course and a competency framework to support your professional development.
Experience
Experience working with complex mental health cases is essential. Previous experience in forensic or prison psychiatry is highly desirable.

Qualifications
Full GMC registration with a license to practice and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in Psychiatry.
