About the Role
Controllers play a critical role in ensuring the firm meets its financial control and reporting obligations as a global, regulated, and public financial institution. As part of the firm’s second line of defence, Controllers provide essential analysis to ensure the accuracy of internal and external financial and non-financial information. They safeguard the firm’s assets through independent scrutiny and engage regularly with regulators and auditors to protect the firm from reputational and other risks. This role offers exposure to Goldman Sachs’ businesses, products, and advanced information technology systems, making it ideal for individuals eager to deepen their understanding of financial services within a collaborative, team-focused culture.
The Accounting Policy function involves working closely with various business units and corporate functions to apply accounting standards and firm policies to transactions and corporate activities. The role includes monitoring and interpreting emerging technical accounting issues under IFRS and U.S. GAAP, assisting with the implementation of disclosures in financial statements and SEC filings, and providing technical accounting advice. You will also partner with business units on accounting implications, perform technical assessments of new financial reporting developments, advise on accounting policy for new products and complex transactions, and contribute to training and policy compliance activities.
