About the Role
FTSE Russell is seeking an organised, detail-focused and analytically minded Controls Analyst to support the operation and ongoing enhancement of the first-line Controls Framework and Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) programme across the global business. This role sits within the FTSE Russell Regulatory, Risk & Controls function and provides foundational execution support across controls inventory management, controls data quality, controls rationalisation, RCSA coordination, reporting and governance routines. The role is central to ensuring controls are accurately recorded, consistently documented, appropriately maintained and linked to relevant risks, processes, assessments and remediation activities.
Working as part of the 1LOD Risk & Control function, the Analyst will support the consistent application of controls standards, RCSA procedures and governance expectations in line with LSEG requirements. The role involves close collaboration with Control Owners, Risk & Control colleagues, process owners, RCSA participants and governance stakeholders to maintain high-quality control records, track assessment activity and support reliable management information.
This position provides the operational foundation for effective controls governance, risk assessment, control lifecycle management and continuous improvement. It is ideal for someone looking to build experience in operational risk, controls, governance, RCSA, control data management and management information within a regulated financial services and market infrastructure environment.

- Coordinate RCSA schedules, workshops, assessment tracking and documentation, ensuring quality and completeness of submissions.
- Produce regular controls and RCSA reporting, maintain dashboards and analyse trends to support governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Support governance meeting preparation, action tracking, committee reporting and stakeholder liaison.
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities in controls inventory, RCSA processes and reporting routines.
- Promote strong first-line risk culture through transparency, accountability and consistent control documentation.
Experience
- Experience working in risk, controls, governance, audit, compliance, operational or reporting environments.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data quality, accuracy and completeness.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to review, organise and interpret structured information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for maintaining trackers, data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholder follow-ups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarise information professionally.
- Ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately.
- Comfortable working with structured processes, governance routines and controls data standards.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify gaps and support issue resolution.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
About you
- Detail-oriented and organised with a strong commitment to controls discipline.
- Collaborative and able to work with diverse stakeholders across business areas.
- Interested in building a career in operational risk, controls, governance or first-line risk management.
- Adaptable and eager to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience with MetricStream or similar GRC, workflow, risk, control or governance tools is desirable.
- Understanding of risk and control concepts including control objectives, ownership, frequency, evidence and effectiveness.
