About the Role
The Senior Java Developer will play a key role in the engineering and delivery of a critical market-infrastructure service within the Equities platform at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), with a strong focus on AWS cloud-native development. Reporting directly to the Senior Technical Delivery Engineer, Post Trade, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining performant, resilient, and scalable backend services built predominantly in Scala. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will help shape technical direction, contribute to best-in-class engineering standards, and actively support the continued growth and evolution of the business.

Experience
- Strong experience with event-driven microservices architecture, including microservices design, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and event-driven principles.
- Skilled in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in building and maintaining DevOps pipelines, ideally with GitLab.
- Proficient in shift-left testing using tools such as JUnit, Cucumber, Gherkin, PACT, and Test Containers.
- Working knowledge of event/message brokers like Kafka and MQ.
- Advanced Scala programming skills, including functional and object-oriented paradigms.
- Practical experience with Scala frameworks and libraries such as Akka, Play Framework, Cats, and Scalaz.
- Proven track record delivering enterprise-grade Scala applications focusing on quality, resilience, performance, and observability.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and multi-threading.
- Strong SQL knowledge with experience in relational databases such as Postgres.
- Familiarity with object storage solutions like AWS S3 and database version control tools such as Flyway and Liquibase.
- Experience working with AWS cloud services including Aurora, MSK, S3, and IAM.
- Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts.
- Strong commitment to agile ways of working, with experience in Scrum and Kanban frameworks and active participation in sprint ceremonies.
- Some experience writing applications in Java and developing web applications using ReactJS.
