About the Role
FTSE Russell (part of London Stock Exchange Group) is building next-generation distribution capabilities that deliver index data to the global financial community across APIs, cloud platforms, and modern data delivery channels. We are seeking a hands-on Senior Full Stack Engineer to design and scale the systems that power this distribution, enabling reliable, secure, and high-performance data delivery to institutional clients worldwide. This individual contributor role carries strong technical leadership expectations, where you will own system design, data modelling, and engineering standards across a critical client-facing platform.

You will design and build scalable data distribution systems delivering data via APIs, cloud platforms, and client-facing services. You will own system architecture and data modelling to ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability at scale. Developing secure, well-designed APIs and data services for external consumers will be a key responsibility. You will drive engineering quality through testing, code review, and standards to ensure production-grade delivery. Collaboration with product teams and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions is essential.

Our technology stack includes TypeScript, Angular/React, Python, SQL, OpenAPI, and cloud services primarily on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS, SNS, Aurora). Databases include PostgreSQL, Apache Iceberg, DynamoDB, and VectorDB (e.g. ChromaDB). Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, AWS CLI, and GitLab are used. We also leverage AI development tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.

Experience
- Strong experience building distributed backend systems and APIs
- Proven ability to own system design and data modelling
- Experience working with cloud-native platforms such as AWS
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data-intensive systems
- Ability to lead through code quality, testing, and technical standards

Qualifications
