About the Role
As a Bailiff, you will play a vital role working on the front line, supporting the justice system by dealing with people at some of the most challenging points of their lives. You will work independently or in small teams, visiting homes and businesses to carry out your duties with empathy and professionalism. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to assess situations quickly, adapt accordingly, and lead confidently in emotionally charged environments. You will receive full bailiff training, including Court Management systems, and ongoing mentoring while working in the field. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference within HM Courts & Tribunals Service and develop your career in the Civil Service. You will have the option to use your own car or, after probation, a lease car (a full UK driving licence is essential). Fuel allowances, full PPE, and safety training are provided. Travel to other courts within the London Region may be required on an ad-hoc basis.

Experience
Previous experience is not explicitly required; however, excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently or in small teams are essential. Familiarity with IT and willingness to learn court case management systems is important.

About you
You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to remain calm and empathetic in challenging situations. You should be adaptable, confident in managing your workload, and able to demonstrate respect and non-judgmental attitudes towards court users. A full UK driving licence entitling you to drive permanently in Great Britain is essential.

No formal qualifications are specified for this role. However, successful completion of full bailiff training and adherence to required security and behavioural standards are mandatory.
