About the Role
Brent Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Specialist Learning Disability Deputy Manager to support the Team Manager in leading a high-performing adult social care team. This role focuses on delivering outstanding outcomes for adults with learning disabilities through strong operational leadership and partnership working. You will manage a team of qualified social workers and unqualified practitioners, ensuring performance aligns with key performance indicators while driving continuous development, improvement, and efficiency.

The role involves joint working with the Brent Community Learning Disability Team (CNWL) and requires building and maintaining collaborative relationships with health colleagues to promote integrated, person-centred support. You will provide specialist advice, guidance, support, and supervision to staff across Adult Social Care, holding direct supervisory responsibility for a group of staff and overseeing quality assurance, customer care, and performance management.

Flexibility is essential, as you will provide cover for colleagues including the Team Manager and work across the service area in response to changing demands. You will have full operational and leadership accountability for functions within Adult Social Care, working in partnership with Adult Care Services, the wider council, external providers, the police, and voluntary and statutory agencies.

Experience
Substantial experience as a professionally qualified social worker with extensive social work practice. Significant post-qualifying experience including statutory social work practice with adults and their families. Experience managing complex adult social care situations and working within adult social care services.

Proven ability to provide professional leadership, guidance, and supervision to both qualified and non-qualified staff. Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals and promoting integrated working across organisational boundaries.

Qualifications
Recognised social work degree or equivalent professional qualification.
Current registration with Social Work England.
In-depth knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks affecting adults, including safeguarding, mental capacity, human rights, and care planning.
Sound understanding of the needs of adults with learning disabilities and the importance of promoting choice, control, independence, dignity, and community inclusion.
