As Street Works Manager, you will manage, plan, control and co-ordinate activities under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA). You will support the Head of Highways Management in delivering a coordinated, planned and effective response to the Highways Authority's duties, minimising disruption and congestion on Brent's roads through effective works coordination.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a team of four NRSWA Inspectors and one technical support officer
- Coordinating and delivering a wide range of challenges using innovative approaches to achieve efficiencies and customer-focused services
- Directing and controlling all works on the public highway
- Overseeing submission of permits, Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) and notices via the official Street Manager platform
- Acting as the primary liaison between utility companies, local highway authority, contractors and the public to resolve conflicts and avoid congestion
- Managing and minimising financial penalties such as Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN), Section 74 overrun charges and defect inspection costs

This varied role involves site inspections, permit management, contractor liaison, programme coordination and stakeholder communication, offering strong scope to develop leadership, compliance and operational management skills within highways, utilities or civil engineering sectors. You will have the opportunity to improve safety standards across street works operations and access role-related training and qualifications such as NRSWA Supervisor, SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid, temporary works and traffic management training where required.

You will have a direct influence on reducing disruption to road users, residents, clients and local authorities through effective planning and coordination, making a measurable impact by helping minimise overruns, avoid penalties, maintain accurate records and support efficient delivery of works.

Experience
Experience providing a customer-focused service in a public environment is essential. Knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act and Traffic Management Act is required. Relevant experience in a similar role is preferred, though a strong willingness to learn will be considered.

You communicate clearly and work well with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. You are organised, reliable and able to manage priorities effectively. Good IT skills are necessary to perform the role successfully.

Qualifications
While specific qualifications are not mandatory, there is potential access to role-related training and certifications such as NRSWA Supervisor, SMSTS or SSSTS, First Aid, temporary works and traffic management training as required.
