About the Role
As a Driver Trainer at Biffa, you will support the safe and effective running of day-to-day depot operations by ensuring all drivers are trained to a high standard. You will ensure statutory, legal, and operational requirements for safe and competent drivers are met and maintained through monitoring driver practices and behaviour via induction and vocational training. You will take efficient action where appropriate to keep our driver community safe and compliant.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding with pre-employment assessments and delivering a comprehensive 5-day Driver Induction aligned with standards and legislation
- Providing ongoing refresher and additional mode training to enhance driver skills and customer experience
- Maintaining accurate driver competence and training records using Express Class
- Offering reassessment and retraining for drivers following incidents
- Regularly analysing driving data with management to identify and address support needs
- Conducting targeted behavioural interventions for drivers requiring improvement
- Staying updated on vehicle technical changes and communicating relevant information to drivers
- Continuously improving training delivery, optimising driver learning, and pursuing your own professional development

Experience
- Minimum 3 years of HGV driving experience, including multiple HGV modes
- Proven expertise in conducting driver assessments
- Basic understanding of HGV mechanics and maintenance
- Proficient in driver checks and reporting procedures
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Working Time Directive
About you
- Holds a valid Class 2 HGV Licence and Digital Tachograph
- Up-to-date CPC Training
- Flexible and adaptable to varied working hours including early starts, late finishes, night shifts, and weekends
- Strong communicator with a commitment to safety and compliance
