About the Role
Help us make a difference as a Shift Engineering Supervisor at our busy Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Edmonton. You will lead and support a team of multi-skilled technicians, driving plant performance, reducing downtime, prioritising engineering activity, and ensuring maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently. This is a key leadership role where you will lead by example, develop your team, and help deliver high engineering and operational standards across the site.

Key responsibilities include leading and supervising a shift team of engineers and contractors to maximise plant performance and uptime, prioritising planned and reactive maintenance activities to support operational requirements, carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs across plant and machinery, delivering preventative and breakdown maintenance to minimise downtime, supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implementing long-term corrective actions, identifying continuous improvement opportunities to improve reliability and engineering efficiency, ensuring all engineering activities are carried out safely and in line with company procedures, supporting and developing engineering team capability and skill progression, maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system, and ensuring high standards of housekeeping, engineering practice and communication through effective shift handovers and reporting.

Requirements

Experience
HNC qualified in Mechanical or Plant Engineering. Previous experience supervising engineering teams within an industrial, manufacturing or processing environment. Strong fault finding and problem solving ability. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and welding. Ability to prioritise workloads and perform well in a fast-paced operational environment. Previous roles such as Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Team Leader, Shift Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Operations Supervisor, Lead Shift Engineer, Engineering Chargehand, Senior Maintenance Engineer, Engineering Shift Lead, Site Engineering Supervisor or Maintenance Shift Lead will also be considered.

Hands-on leader with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence. Able to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications
HNC in Mechanical or Plant Engineering is essential.
